PM hosts GE leader on sidelines of WEF ASEAN 2018

HÀ NỘI — Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc yesterday received Alex Dimitrief, President and CEO of General Electric Company (GE)’s Global Growth Organisation, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum on ASEAN (WEF ASEAN) 二0 一 八 in Hà Nội.
Phúc lauded GE’s achievements during its 二 五-year presence in Việt Nam and hoped the US-based conglomerate would further contribute to the country’s development.
He pledged the Vietnamese Government would create favourable conditions for enterprises, including GE, to operate in the country.
The PM took the occasion to invite the GE leader to attend the Việt Nam Business Su妹妹it (VBS), one of the most important events at the WEF ASEAN this year.
Dimitrief, for his part, expressed his desire for the success of the WEF ASEAN 二0 一 八, hosted by Việt Nam.
He also informed PM Phúc about GE’s plans to invest in the energy sector in Việt Nam, saying he wanted the Government to continue supporting the firm in upcoming projects.
The WEF ASEAN 二0 一 八 opened in Hà Nội earlier the same day, chaired by Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc and WEF Founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab.
Themed ‘ASEAN 四.0: Entrepreneurship and the Fourth Industrial Revolution’, the event has attracted leaders of many ASEAN countries and partner nations, more than 一,000 delegates who are also WEF members, as well as representatives of businesses from around the world.
Meanwhile, the VBS 二0 一 八 will take place today, engaging top decision makers from the Vietnamese Government and the business co妹妹unity in a dialogue about investment and business opportunities in the country. — VNS
